Miss Park
My name is Barbara Park. I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. My family immigrated to United States of America in 1973 and resided in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Kennedy High School in Granada Hills. Afterwards I attended USC and received my BA in Education Psychology. I began my teaching in LAUSD in 1990 at SunnyBrae Elementary School. I started my career by teaching first grade and then left the classroom for a year to take a position as the Reading Teacher. At the same time, I attended CSUN and received my MA in Literacy/Language and earned my Reading Specialist Credential. I came to Vintage Magnet Elementary in 2000 and taught second grade. In 2009 I left the classroom to take a position as the Intervention Coordinator. With that position, I honed my skills at enriching studies for students that were struggling to meet the standards and learned how to differentiate instruction. It was an amazing experience helping so many students. I enjoy teaching second grade at Vintage with my fabulous team. In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, travel, scrapbook and read. |
Mrs. Amanios
Welcome to 2nd grade! I am very excited to be working with Miss Park & you this year in Room 23. I hope to make this year a fun learning experience for your child. I believe it is important for students to become independent learners while setting high expectations. I hope to achieve this by finding their strengths and interests to help them become successful. Technology has been a wonderful tool to help students practice their skills or provide enrichment opportunities. I try to incorporate technology within my lessons & allow students time to use technology in the classroom. I have been teaching at Vintage Magnet for 20 years, now starting my 21st year. I began my career here working as a Teacher's Assistant in 3rd grade while pursuing my teaching credential. I have only taught 1st and 2nd grade, but would like to teach an upper grade in the future. I have spent my career in the classroom because I feel this is where I can truly make a difference. I am honored to be a part of the Vintage family. I am happily married and have 2 sons. My oldest son is 13 and attends middle school. My youngest son is 8 years old and attends Vintage Magnet. We enjoy playing at the park, reading stories together, visiting relatives, watching movies, and going to Menchies for yogurt. |
